Direct Cremation

Includes:

  • Collection of the deceased from place of death (within 10 miles and in working Hours)
  • Care of the deceased at our private chapel of rest prior to the cremation.
  • Provision of a simple coffin.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and delivered to the required authority.
  • Date of cremation to be chosen by the funeral director/ crematorium.
  • Family will be informed of the date prior to cremation.
  • Transferring the deceased to a local crematorium in our private ambulance.
  • Collection of the deceased’s ashes from the crematorium and made available for collection from one of our offices within a few days.
  • This is a non-attended cremation with no service, vicar, or public attendance.

Attended Direct Cremation

Includes:

  • Collection of the deceased from place of death (within 10 miles and in working Hours)
  • Care of the deceased at our private chapel of rest prior to the cremation.
  • Provision of a simple coffin.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and delivered to the required authority.
  • Date of cremation to be chosen by the funeral director/ crematorium.
  • Transferring the deceased to a local crematorium in our private ambulance.
  • Collection of the deceased’s ashes from the crematorium and made available for collection from one of our offices within a few days.

Funeral Cost £1585plus disbursements

Disbursements (typically):
Cremation Fee for 10 minutes chapel time with a maximum of 8 people £525
Cremation Fee for 20 minutes chapel time with a maximum of 20 people £635

Basic Funeral

All members of the society of allied and independent funeral directors, as part of the code of practice agreed with the office of fair trading, provide a basic funeral to an agreed specification. This specification is as stated below and can not be adjusted or added to in any way:

  • Provision of the funeral director’s services.
  • Attending to all the necessary arrangements.
  • Provision of the necessary staff.
  • Provision of a coffin suitable for the purpose of burial or cremation.
  • Transfer of the deceased from the place of death.

(Within 10 miles and in normal working hours)

  • Date of funeral to be chosen by funeral director.
  • Care of the deceased prior to the funeral.
  • Provision of a hearse to the nearest crematorium or cemetery.
  • Burial may be specified instead of cremation where this is locally available.

This specification excludes the following services: Embalming, viewing of the deceased, provision of a limousine.

Tailored Funeral (Cremation)

  • Professional services which include collection of the deceased from place of death Locally during working hours and returning them into our care at our private chapel of rest.
  • Care of the deceased and use of our private viewing chapel, by appointment.
  • Meeting with the family assisting with the required paperwork, making the funeral arrangements, liaising with the church / crematorium, and providing the family with a written confirmation of funeral arrangements and estimate of fees.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and delivered to the required authority.
  • Provision of a funeral director and bearers at the church / crematorium.
  • Provision of a Jaguar hearse.
  • Provision of a veneered coffin with four bearer handles and fully lined and trimmed.

Funeral cost £2900 plus disbursements

Tailored Funeral (Burial)

  • Professional services which include collection of the deceased from place of death Locally during working hours and returning them into our care at our private chapel of rest.
  • Care of the deceased and use of our private viewing chapel, by appointment.
  • Meeting with the family assisting with the required paperwork, making the funeral arrangements, liaising with the church, and providing the family with a written confirmation of funeral arrangements and an estimate of fees.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and delivered to the required authority.
  • Provision of a funeral director and bearers at the church and cemetery.
  • Provision of a Jaguar hearse.
  • Provision of a veneered coffin with four bearer handles and comes fully lined and trimmed.

Payment Terms

Surman & Horwood Funeral Services Ltd operates a pricing policy in compliance with the Code of Practice of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors.

We respectfully ask that the disbursements are paid to us before the funeral takes place and that the office copy of the estimate is signed and returned to us as consent that you accept the charges and will be liable for payment of the remaining account when submitted. This is usually 2-3 days after the funeral and due within 14 days of date of invoice.

We reserve the right to add interest on all outstanding accounts at 1.5% per month that remain unpaid after 30 days and any legal and court costs incurred due to non-payment.
